Heartbroken

Something was wrong, Xanthus knew it. Nidra closed her eyes and sighed heavily. What she had to say was extremely hard for her. Xanthus waited patiently with his heart pounding hard against his chest.

- I will leave Elephteria," she whispered and her voice shocked. Xanthus's heart stopped. Had he heard right?

-Don’t leave me. I do anything you ask, you have to stay! said Xanthus desperate. If you leave Elephteria, I will follow you. I cannot live without you by my side. Since you denied me, I have still deep feelings for you. You are the only one. I ask for nothing more, only your love. But if I have to prove it to you, by abandoning the herd... I do it!, Xanthus said the last with a new sharp in his voice. I resign as the leader, if only that’s what it takes to be with you...

Nidra’s otherwise dead eyes, seemed to find a source of light, and she smiled quietly. She took a step towards Xanthus and pressed her forehead against his.
