Personality

Óskasteinn was imported from Elephteria to Sweden after the last visit to the island. He had wondered off from his heard and was spotted when sunken down to a deep ditch, stuck and unable to get up on his own. Rosendal took him with them and offered him a new home in the mainland.

Steinn is a very nice stallion to work with. He is very trustworthy when you have won his trust and he knows that he can trust you. He is very playful of himself and is very often spotted in the pasture, trotting around and playing with the younger generation of the Hototo’s. He has learned to neigh and call out on command. When you raise a hand and holds it steady before his muzzle, he will neigh.

He has a very beautiful canter and trot which are flowing and graceful. He has jumped a few times but only minor jumps. He has an average technique which doesn’t impress many.
He is easy to tack, saddle and to mount, here you can truly see his patient towards the rider.
He can get a bit impatient when you groom him. This guy doesn’t like small and light strokes, they should be long and hard, otherwise he will tell you so.

When it comes to water, Steinn isn’t the most easy horse to shower. He jumps and leaps away from the water and them beam and tries to avoid it. Water is certainly not his favorite element. When the vet is visiting, Steinn keeps himself on a safe distance. The vet has only checked him once, and that was directly after his accident with the ditch, since then he flees when the vet is around.

Steinn can be a bit impatient when placed in the Hototo’s stable, since he doesn’t really like tight and cornered spaces. He can stand there for a short while but after a while, he will try to get out.

He hope that this beautiful stallion will have a good home at Rosendal and we hope he will enter some shows in the future and become a great sire to his future offspring’s.
