Personality

Contrafagetto is a headstrong boy who isn’t the easiest horse to work with. He has inherited his iron will from his dam, RPS Sidekick. At times Getto can act like his sire, Contradictio, calm and reliable, but that is very seldom.

Getto do have the patient to wait, but not too long or he will get bored and try to amuse himself with something. He has a true winning head and won’t back away from a fight. He is born a leader, and he always try to show himself off. When he spots other horses he “blows up” and struts around like “I’m the Man”. He is playful towards humans and is always trying to play around when given the chance. If you loosen the reins for a moment, he will try to shake his head so he can catch the reins and start chewing on them. Getto is very brave and that can sometimes get to his head, this ability would make him a perfect eventer in the future.

He isn’t very bright or smart but he has a normal horse sense about things. He can be picky about his food, but is for the most often eating up his portion. When it comes to children, he is a angel. He loves when children runs around his legs and hops on his back, surprisingly. The staff got a minor shock when they saw a little girl running around his legs in the pasture and he didn’t move a muscle, he looked as if he enjoyed the play. When children play with him, he only uses his head to touch the kids. He might touch and shoved the kids with it down to the ground, so they fall over.

He has some flaws in his confirmation and exterior, but these are nothing too bad, but he doesn’t deserve to be called the best looking horse in planet earth. He has his problem. Getto’s walk is not pleasent when you are onboard. He take long paces and wiggles as he walks. His head swings from side to side and you might bounce in the saddle back and forth. His trot however his the best trot ever. You can easily relax and sit back and deep into the saddle without any problem and then we come to his canter, which is a nightmare. It is not that he canters poorly, no, but he have a problem to collect himself, which makes him take middle leaps between the steps, which is very confusing for the rider and very irritating.

Getto is fairly easy to handle in most every event, but when it comes to trailers and transportation, that’s too much for him. RDS has never made a successful loading of this boy. Every time he is being loaded, a vet is called and he is given a calming shot so he can be loaded.

Out in the pasture he is cocky and almost runs himself to death the first hour of the day and to catch him later on the evening, that’s when he runs for another hour before you can actually catch him.

Getto has no problem to be ridden in the indoor arena. He might act up, but he does that always. He is very well behaved outdoor also and in group riding, but only if he has a firm hand and a tough rider onboard. Trafficking riding is okay, but you can never truly relay on him in this matter, he might jump out in the middle of the road if he suddenly feels the need to do so.

Getto is still in great need of training and we believe he might be one of the greater names in the future at RDS.
