Josephine, Shiro and William was standing by the grandstand
watching the race, in which Madelynn and Stormlykta
participated in. Stormlykta had managed to get the first place in
her last race, which was her first grade 1 win. Oh, how glorious i
it had been to see Stormlykta and Madelynn cross the finishline
first.

Today it was time for Cornwall Chase, and the horses was
waiting in the starting gates, ready to prounce. Josephine held
her leadrope tight up under her chin as she waited for the bell to
force out the field on the track. William leaned against the rail,
and so did Shiro. Both focused on the gates and number 6 which
was their number. The bell rang high and the field left the
starting gates behind. Madelynn and Stormlykta was late out
and placed second to last. Josephine cursed to herself.
"No worries," said William. "She has the power to stay behind for
a while." He straighten up and followed the field as they past
them by.

Stormlykta worked her way up one pace at a time, til she was
on the 6th place, and when she faced the 5th jump, she leapt
from the ground, soaring over the hedge. Then she landed. And
she stumbled but managed to stay on her feet. Madelynn also
managed to stay put, but she lost her blance for a slight second.
They fell behind and lost the progress they had made. They were
now on 8th place.
Josephine hid her face in her hands, afraid to watch. Madelynn
urged Stormlykta forward and the filly powered through.

They rounded the last corner and the last hedge and Stormlykta
was now in second place. Working her muscles as she rounded
the curve.
She leaped over the last jump, still in second place. She landed
heavily but her will was strong. Her oponent raced strong in f
front of her. Madelynn showed the wip and urged Stormlykta to
power on, even faster.
"Come on! Bring it! Do it!!!"
Josephine screamed. Shiro screamed and so did William. All
three screamed and shouted along with the crowd to urge their
horse on. One length behind. 3/4 length behind. Half a length.
1/4 length. A neck! A nose!
Stormlykta had gained the lead, powered by her fighting spirit as
she had raced close to the other horse. 100 meter to the finish!
Stormlykta raced on, but had no urge to run faster. Madelynn
looked back, assuring they were clear. They were, and so they
past the finish with 3/4 length to spare.
